Mario Perini
I support Giovanni Foresti for a nomination to the IPA Board. I know him since many years and was able to see at work on many occasions his deep clinical, psychoanalytical as well as organizational knowledge and competence. Widely known in Italy, where he held relevant positions within the Italian Psychoanalytic Society (SPI), he is also renowned abroad, having taken part in some initiatives of the IPA (eg a research project on the relationship between psychoanalysis and mental health) and other scientific institutions.
His experiences and skills cover a wide range of areas and institutional contexts, from working in clinical psychoanalysis to managing a mental hospital, from being a staff member in group relations conferences in Italy and abroad to promoting and leading a large SPI Congress on highly innovative themes such as money, work, power and social rules. I believe that Giovanni, in implementing his program, might give a priceless contribution to the development of psychoanalysis particularly in the fields of outreach, group and organizational dynamics, training and consultancy to institutions, welfare and social engagement.
His great capability with various languages and acquaintance with international relationships put him also in good position to represent psychoanalysis worldwide.
